Bettie Jean (Baker) Hammel, daughter of the late James A. Baker and Hasel (Capps) Baker died on June 13, 2026.
On November 16, 1946, she married Homer E. Hammel. He passed away on July 22, 2016 after 69 years of marriage. Bettie retired from Sperreng Middle School. She belonged to Red Hats and attended the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield.
Survivors include Larry (Chris) Hammel, of Roy, WA, Kirk Hammel, of St. Louis, MO, Scott (Kathy) Hammel, of St. Louis, MO, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, siblings, Bill (Melba) Baker of Dexter, Missouri, Martha Walker (Freeman: deceased) of Bloomfield, Missouri, Shirley (Jerry) Dempsey of Farmington, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Homer, a daughter, Sharon Hessler (June 21, 2019) and a brother Ed Ray.
The visitation will be on Thursday, June 18, 2026, beginning at 11 A.M. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home located at 106 N. Prairie St, in Bloomfield, Missouri. The funeral will start at 12:30 P.M. and burial will immediately follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
