Betty Gay of Bernie, daughter of the late William Hill and Harriett Hill, was born in Parma, Missouri on May 2, 1937, and passed away in Bernie, Missouri on October 31, 2020, at the age of 83 years. She was a faithful member of the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Essex. Betty Gay was married to Eddie Lee Gay until he passed away on August 30, 2015. Surviving are one son Eddie James Gay of Bernie; two daughters, Lillie Clark of Bernie, and Norma Johns of Malden; two grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four brothers BJ Hill of Chicago, Illinois, Earnest Hill Marion, Indiana, Charles Hill and Chester Hill both of Essex; four sisters Mable Jacob of Essex, Willie Bailey Malden, Anita Presley of Malden, and Annie Thompson of Essex. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by six brothers James, Marvin, Kenneth, Joannie, Donnie, Kevin Hill; two sisters Mildred Hill, and Mary Burks. Friends may visit on Saturday November 7, 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, with Rev. Bruce Britton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
