Bobbie Gene Buttry, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026. He was a longtime resident of Southeast Missouri. Bobbie was born on August 19, 1936, in Puxico, Missouri, to Lawrence Buttry and Mildred Vianna Obards. He was a graduate of Puxico High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On December 26, 1959, Bobbie married the love of his life, Syble Cookson, in Puxico, Missouri. Together they shared many years of love and devotion. Bobbie worked for many years at Dave Sinclair Ford as a frame straightener, where he was known for his strong work ethic and skill. He lived in St. Louis, Missouri for 40 years, before moving to Wappapello, Missouri, where he resided for over 20 years.
Bobbie was saved and a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church in Jennings, Missouri. His faith guided his life and actions. He had a servant's heart and was always willing to help others, often visiting those in the hospital and offering encouragement. In his free time, Bobbie loved fishing, working with his tractor, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he deeply loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, who brought him great joy and pride. Bobbie Gene Buttry will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, faith, and the love he had for his family and community.
Bobbie is survived by two daughters: Angela (John) Newell of Bloomfield, Missouri, Andrea (Larry) Dodge of Jackson, Missouri, one brother: Tom (Flora) Buttry of O'Fallon, Missouri, five grandchildren: Sarah (Ben) Stearns of Jackson, Missouri, Aaron (Brooke) Dodge of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Nathan (Rylee) Newell of Bloomfield, Missouri, Levi Dodge of Jackson, Missouri, John Dodge of Jackson, Missouri, two great grandchildren: Hazel and Bonnie Stearns of Jackson, Missouri and many friends and family.
Bobbie is preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Mildred and two siblings: Elmer (Bill) Buttry, Joyce (Buttry) Pratt.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, beginning at 10 A.M at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri, with the funeral to follow at 11:30 A.M.
Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 1 P.M.
