Carol Ann Lemons of Essex, daughter of the late Benjamin William and Lucille Fredrick LeGrand, was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 19, 1944, and passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on January 1, 2017, at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 13 days. She was was raised in Cape Girardeau and lived in Millington, TN and Norfolk, VA before moving to Essex in 1968. She had worked for VNA as a CNA care giver and was a member of the Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Dexter. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. She enjoyed reading, delivering meals on wheels and doing crafts. On December 4, 1965, she was married to Jack Lemons in Millington, Tennessee. Surviving are her husband, Jack Lemons of Essex; two sons & wives, Dean (Beth) Lemons of Davenport, Iowa, Derek (Amanda) Lemons of Fenton; three daughters & husbands, Claudine (Kirby) Sokolowski of Advance, Chlorena (Doug) Burleson of Scott City, Danielle (Lonnie) Beeson of Cassville; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Ron (Sue) LeGrand of Mattoon, IL, Dave (Diane) LeGrand, Tom (Brenda) LeGrand, Darryl (Gina) LeGrand, Sam LeGrand, all of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Yvonne Finnegan of Virginia, Karen (Gene) Golden, Yvette (David) West and Tammy (Richard) Jordan, all of Cape Girardeau. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Stephen and Joseph LeGrand, and sister, Catherine LeGrand. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
