Isaac McKinley Wheeler of Bernie, son of the late Sam and Luvinia Brown Wheeler, was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on July 19, 1927, and passed away at Ridgeview Community Living in Malden on March 29, 2020, at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 10 days.
He had lived in the Parma and Bernie areas most of his life. He had worked as a farmer and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Catron, Missouri.
On August 23, 1999, he was married to Brenda McCormick in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Wheeler of Bernie; one son, James (Melinda) Howell of Sikeston; twelve daughters, Gena (Jewell) McKinney, Valerie (David) Wheeler all of Kennett, Debra Wheeler of South Bend, Indiana, Sharon (Tarryl) Booker, Denise (Rod) McQuerter, Carolyn (Otis) Wynn, Wannetta Gillispie and Gloria (Roy) Moore all of Sikeston, Evelyn (Kenneth) Bogan and Margie Frazier all of East St. Louis, Illinois, Yulonda Brady of New Madrid; a grandson that he raised, Joseph Howell of Tallassee, Florida; one son-in-law, Archie Bradford of South Bend, Indiana; thirty-four grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Joe (Lorene) Wheeler of Flint, Michigan, Billy (Pearl) Wheeler of Lilbourn; three sisters, Ann (Willie) Clark of Sikeston; Rosie L. Wheeler and Elizabeth Kindler both of Flint, Michigan. A host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by four sons, Larry Williams, David Howell, Marcellus Howell, and Leroy Wheeler; two daughters, Vanessa Bradford, Joyce Robinson; three brothers, Robert, Willie and Samuel Wheeler; three sisters, Altee Higginbottom, Iodia Johnson and Priscilla Lloyd.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at the Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron.
Interment will follow with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
