James Ray Hanner, Jr. age 44 of Dexter, passed on August 27, 2017, at his home. Mr. Hanner was born in Poplar Bluff, son of the late James Ray Hanner, Sr. and Kathleen Ann Olson Sellers, on April 20, 1973. James and his spouse, Derek, owned and operated Lucas Florist. He was full of life and had many friends. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Methodist Faith. Surviving are his spouse, Derek Medler of Dexter; his grandparents, Raymond & Betty Hanner of Poplar Bluff; three sisters & husbands, Lana K. & Tracy Gleghorn of Corning, Arkansas, Connie L. & Greg McMeans of Qulin, Missouri and Lorra G. & Jeff McPherson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three nieces, Jessica McPherson, Kristin Overfield and Samantha McMeans; three nephews, J.J. Gleghorn, Trey Gleghorn, and Tyler McMeans; five great nieces and nephews. Other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his paternal grandmother, Alma (Archer) Hanner; maternal grandparents, Hanlon Olson and Helen (Simpson) Shoenbaum. Friends may call on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in Dexter. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Bailey Chapel Cemetery in Alton, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
