John Prince of Cardwell, Missouri, son of the late John and Marie Hanner Prince, was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 6, 1942, and passed away at his home in Cardwell on October 2, 2016, at the age of 74 years and 26 days. Mr. Prince had lived in Poplar Bluff and Puxico before moving to Cardwell in 1979. He was a member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church in Cardwell. He had been the Elementary School Principal in Cardwell before he retired and had served two terms as the Mayor of Cardwell. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #596 AF&AM, former member of the Lions Club and had served and retired from the Missouri National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, photography, watching Cardinal games and gardening. On April 10, 1965 he married Virginia Elledge in Puxico. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Prince of Cardwell; one son, Dennis Prince of Cardwell; one daughter, Laura Prince of Cardwell; three brothers, Buford Prince of St. Louis, Danny Prince and Blicky Prince both of Paragould, Arkansas. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, C.L. Prince, step-father, Buell Mallette and nephew Kenny Prince. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Kenneth Hargrave of Paragould, Arkansas officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
