Margie “Laverne” Snider, the daughter of the late John and Freeda (Powell) Rodgers, was born in Mingo, Mo. on August 28, 1927, and passed away at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. on June 7, 2020, at the age of 92 years, 9 months and 10 days. On January 25, 1947, she married Floyd Snider in Bowling Green, Ohio. They lived the majority of their 62 years together in the St. Louis area. They had 5 cherished children, Brenda Lerch, of Granite City, Illinois, Randall (Kathryn) Snider of Foristell, Missouri, Rodger Snider, of Wentzville, Missouri, Kurtis (Karen) Snider of O’Fallon, Missouri and Francine Spinks, of Wellsville, Missouri, 10 treasured grandchildren, Wendy (Chris) Hines, Amanda Lerch, Kevin (Lisa) Lerch, James (Shawna) Snider, Bryan Snider, Kaitlyn Snider, Austin Snider, Kacie (Paul) Davis, Jacob ( Lisa) Spinks, Daniel (Jacqueline) Spinks, 15 beloved great grandchildren and 1 precious great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 8 siblings, John, Vernon, Harold, Dean, Roy, Lovelle, Carlyn and Leta, as well as two great grandchildren, Kathleen and Tanyin. She is survived by brothers Jimmie Rodgers and Dennis Rodgers, and sisters, Rita Corlew and Ocia Bryant, other relatives, extended family and numerous friends. Laverne was a devoted wife and mother who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed quilting, word puzzles, reading, (especially her Bible) and music. She was a devout Christian and was always involved in her church. She helped plant mission churches, was a Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, and involved in Women’s Missions. She was a longtime member of the Puxico General Baptist Church and considered it her home church even after moving to Wellsville, Mo. Family may call on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 12-1 pm at the Puxico General Baptist Church in Puxico. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Lambert. Interment will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bloomfield Missouri. Watkins and Sons Funeral Services of Puxico, Mo. will be in charge of arrangements. A “ Celebration of Life” Service will be held for extended family and friends on September 4, 2020 at Calvary Fellowship in Fenton, Mo. The family looks forward to welcoming everyone at that time. Donations may be made to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. at 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, Mo. 63825 or to the Puxico General Baptist Church at P.O.Box 401, Puxico, Mo. 63960.
