Matthew Thomas Riordan was born February 19, 1973 in Queens, New York to the late James P. and Maryann T. (Brown) Riordan and passed away September 9, 2025 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 52 years old.
Matthew graduated high school and went on to be united in marriage to Colleen Gavin, August 16th, 1993 in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. He was a chef in the culinary world. He has lived in New York, Florida and Jersey before coming to reside in Missouri. He lived in the Cape Girardeau area for 17 years and was of Christian faith, attending La Croix Church with his son. He loved his family and was very proud of his sons. He was a huge Giants fan and enjoyed and loved nature. His big dream one day was to move to Colorado and live off the grid. He had two grandchildren and loved them immensely. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving family include: four sons, Matthew James Riordan of New York, Derek Micheal and Natalie Nicole Riordan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Jayden Tyler Riordan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Aaron Micheal Beam of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren, Davina May and Divinity Rose Riordan, six brothers; Jim Riordan, Michael Riordan, Randy Riordan, Rondy Riordan, Jason Riordan, and Nicholas Riordan, three sisters; Michelle Blackburn, Maryann Riordan-Thomas and Shelly Rio. Special mention to those close to him are: Gerald Abernathy of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, David and Theresa Taylor of Lake of the Ozarks.
Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Willie-Joe Riordan.
Funeral Service is being held at La Croix Church, September 14th, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
