Misty Dwan Burton

Misty Dwan Burton was born on March 2, 1977 to Kathy and Earl Hopkins in Dexter, Missouri and passed away on September 8, 2025 in Oran, Missouri at the age of 48.

On December 15, 2000, Misty Hopkins and Hubert “Scott” Burton Jr. were united in marriage in Bloomfield, Missouri and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2018.

Misty was a collector of oddities and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a giving heart and never met a stranger. Misty was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving family include her daughters, Ashley (Cole) McPherson, of Painton, Missouri, Sarah (Eli) Cunningham, of Chaffee, Missouri, and Katie (Dominique) Burton, of Haywood City, Missouri, her parents, Earl and Kathy Hopkins, of Neosho, Missouri, 2 sisters, Sandy (John) Bidlack, of Carterville, Missouri and Julia (Josh) Zaffos, of San Antonio, Texas, a brother, Ricky Schatte, of Sturdivant, Missouri, 2 grandmothers, Lucille Walker, of Advance, Missouri and Virginia Goff Hopkins, of San Antonio, Texas, 3 nephews, Blake and Anthony Bidlack, of Carterville, Missouri, and colt Schatte and 2 grandchildren, Elijah Wheatley and Marah Cunningham.

Misty was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Scott” Burton Jr, her father-in-law, Hubert Scott Burton Sr, her maternal grandfather Ted Walker, and her paternal grandfather Chester Hopkins. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, beginning at 2 P.M. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
