Opal Lee Cookson of Puxico, Missouri, the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Ethel Lou (Miller) Hodge was born on November 25, 1928, in Wichita, Kansas, and passed from this life on April 25, 2023, in Puxico, Missouri, at the age of 94 years.
Opal has lived in the Southeast Missouri area most of her life. She enjoyed camping, loved being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, especially spoiling her one grandson. She was of the Protestant Faith and a member of The Assembly Of God Church in Puxico. She retired in 1992 from Gates Rubber Company in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Opal was married to Birt Leslie Cookson on February, 8, 1946, in Puxico, Missouri, and remained married until his passing in April of 2013.
Opal is survived by one son, Lynn (Gail) Cookson of Puxico, Missouri; one grandson, Thom Cookson and his financ'e Jill of Puxico, Missouri; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Frank and Floyd Hodge; two sisters, Ruby Page and Mae Holloway.
Visitation will be held Friday, April, 28, 2023, at the Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel In Puxico, Missouri from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with service to follow with Pastor Wayne Burchett of Brosley, Missouri, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins And Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
