Ray Edward Doerschlen of Bloomfield, son of the late John Ferdinand and Addie Mae Proffer Doerschlen, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 3, 1936, and passed away at his home in Bloomfield, on February 5, 2020, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 2 days. Ray had lived in the Bloomfield area the past forty years. He had served 11 years active duty in the U. S. Air Force and was a recruiter for the Army National Guard . He was a member of the V. F. W. On August 3, 1963, he was married to Jacqueline C. “Jackie” Holden in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Surviving are his wife, Jackie Doerschlen of Bloomfield; three daughters, Jinnifer E. Whitaker of Bloomfield, Suzanne M. Halsell of Memphis, Tennessee, Sheri C. Parks & husband, Leebo Parks of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren (and one on the way). He is survived by many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, John Frederic Doerschlen, a grandson, Dustin I. O. Greer, a brother, Eddy Jack Doerschlen, and a son-in-law, John D. Whitaker. Friends may visit on Sunday, February 9, 2019, after 1:00 pm at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield until 3:00 pm when a procession will be made to the cemetery. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors. Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
