Ray Gene Jones, of Dexter, Missouri, the beloved son of the late Gilbert and Helen (Beyerbach) Jones, was born on August 13, 1958, in East Saint Louis, Illinois. He passed away on November 19, 2024 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 66 years.


Ray lived in Dexter for the past 30 years and worked diligently as a line worker at Tyson's until his retirement in 2010. A person of faith, he was a member of the Baptist community. His passions included working on cars, playing pool, and enjoying classic movies and television shows.


He is survived by his long-time companion, Janet Shoemaker, of Dexter, Missouri; his children, Matthew (Sarah) Jones of Fayetteville, Illinois, Angelina Jones of Bellville, Illinois, and April (Mike) Len of Millstadt, Illinois. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Mike Moore of Dexter, Missouri, his sister, Barbara Chatham of Granite City, Illinois, and a close friend, Zachary Sronce of Waterloo, Illinois.


Ray was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Leo Jones, and his long-time companion, Silvia Stewart.


Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. on the same day, with burial to take place at the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri.
