Ronald Joe Shrum of Puxico, son of late Joesph and Minnie Matthews Shrum, was born in Puxico, on October 17, 1947, and passed away at his home near Puxico,on Friday, April 10, 2020, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 24 days.
Ron was a deacon at the Duck Creek Missionary Baptist Church for 40 + years where his family attented. He was a member of the Puxico Masonic Lodge #596 A.F. & A.M and a member of Bernie Masonic Lodge, and a member of Puxico Eastern Star Chapter #422 where he held Worthy Patron for many years. Ron loved fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting and being outside, he was also a member of the Mingo Tractor Club.
On September 17, 1966 he was united in marriage to Lavonda Jean Crenshaw of Bloomfield, Missouri and celebrated 53 and a half years together.
Surviving him is his wife, Lavonda Crenshaw Shrum of Puxico; one son, Bryan Dale Shrum of the home; one daughter, Sherry Renee Shrum Boswell of Viera, Florida; three grandchildren, Logan and Kennedy Boswell of Viera, Florida, and Travis Boswell & wife MaryAnn of Jacksonville, Florida; two great grandchildren Evie & Ryker Boswell of Jacksonville, Florida; three sisters, Barbara Shrum Ford of Boring Oregon, Brenda Shrum Russell of Poplar Bluff, and Sandra Shrum McCluskey of Puxico, Missouri. Other relatives, several nieces, nephews and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at 1:00 pm at the Fairview Cemetery on PP Hwy with David Edwards officiating.
Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of all arrangements.
